Groundwater exploration using drainage pattern and geophysical data: a case study from Wadi Qena, Egypt

چکیده

Abstract In the Wadi Qena region, digital elevation model (DEM), aeromagnetic, and magnetotelluric data are processed examined to outline surface water flow patterns, subsurface structures, demonstrate their effects on groundwater direction, assess aquifer thickness relationship between structures inherited (drainage pattern). Qena’s drainage pattern watershed basins were delineated using satellite in order accomplish these objectives. The first vertical derivative transformation was used determine prevailing northwest-southeast northeast-southwest structural trends impacting region. handle aeromagnetic data, it is necessary reduce observed magnetic such that they correspond reduced pole (RTP). two-dimensional analytical signal technique discover depth of basement rocks, which research region serve as bedrock overlying aquifer, ranges from 101 ? 1165 m relative sea level. This information obtained by measuring distance earth’s bedrock. To further define accurate geological conducted survey area interpreted 1-D inversion technique, results coupled with existing drill data. base discovered be 350 410 deep. Finally, reliable closely related earlier geophysical investigations studied area.

Geophysical investigation for groundwater exploration in Lakshadweep Islands – A case study

One of the main problems experienced by the islanders of Lakshadweep is associated with the availability of fresh water for drinking purpose. The scarcity of fresh water is due to the peculiar hydrologic, geologic, geomorphic and demographic features. Proper understanding of the groundwater condition, in terms of availability, distribution and quality, is very important to meet the increasing d...

New Proboscideans from the Early Miocene of Wadi Moghara, Egypt

Fieldwork conducted since 1981 has greatly increased the sample of proboscidean fossils from Wadi Moghara, Egypt. The Moghara proboscidean assemblage is taxonomically more diverse than previously suspected, comprising four taxa: Gomphotherium angustidens libycum, Afrochoerodon kisumuensis, cf. Archaeobelodon, and Zygolophodon aegyptensis, sp. nov. Biochronological analysis of the proboscideans ...
